Interactive security products that make life easier
Security doesn’t have to be hard work. Technology now makes it easy to protect your home and business at the touch of a button.
With a home smart security system, you can connect to your Wi-Fi network and monitor your property from your smartphone.
Smart home security systems
A smart home security system such as Hive HomeShield, lets you select the devices you want to connect to your smart alarm system and add them to a subscription. They may include door and window sensors, a motion detector, and a hub that links them.
You can control your alarm system from anywhere using your phone, tablet or Apple Watch. There are home, sleep and away modes that can be customised to suit your current situation.
Once the sensors are set up, you receive an alert to your smartphone if one of them is tripped.
You can also connect Hive HomeShield to smart technology in your home, such as Amazon Echo and Google Home.
Build up your security as required
With Hive and other smart security products, you can build and add to your system as required.
This may mean additional door, motion or window sensors if you want to extend coverage of your home or business. Or it could expand to include door locks, surveillance cameras, outdoor lighting, garage door openers, water sensors, and much more.
Window and door sensors work form part of the Hive ecosystem and require the Hive Hub. Once the sensors are set up, you receive an alert to your smartphone if one of them is tripped.
You can easily expand your system by adding on other Hive smart home products as required.
Surveillance subscription services
You can monitor a home smart security system yourself, or you could choose to pay a subscription to have your home monitored by professionals who will contact either you or fire or police if alarms are triggered.
Most subscription services are flexible, and you can opt for an on-demand monitoring service. This means you can choose to have professional monitoring only when you’re going to be away from home.
The convenience of an app
The real advantage of a connected smart security system is the convenience of being able to manage it using an app.
You can control your home or business security from wherever you happen to be, using your smartphone. You can turn alarms on or off, lock and unlock doors, and change settings.
Push notifications will alert you when alarms are triggered.
Many of the latest apps will also enable you to view footage from surveillance cameras either live or recorded. Some apps also have a function that uses your phone's location to tell it when to disarm the system, such as when you’re about to enter the house.
As well as the app for when you’re mobile, there’s a central hub within the home that you can use to manage your security system.
