What’s new in home security products for 2017?
From door and window locks to alarms and access systems, all your traditional home security products are being reinvented with the use of current technologies.
Wireless smart door locks
Wireless smart door locks are becoming increasingly popular as they offer a whole new level of convenience. You don’t need a key; you can just use your smartphone or enter a PIN. Some smart locks even automatically unlock your door as you walk up – great for when you’ve got your hands full.
Smart locks give you control so you can lock and unlock your door remotely. You can also give digital keys to family, friends, cleaners and anyone else who needs regular access to your home.
New on the market
The new Yale Conexis™ L1 Smart Door Lock allows you to configure, control and unlock your door from your smartphone via a secure Bluetooth low energy app. You can create and send mobile keys to family and friends, and it allows you to keep track of who comes and goes via your smartphone.
It has Twist and Go functionality, which means you can twist your phone to a 90-degree angle to unlock your door. Plus, you get the choice of key tag, key card or phone tag, depending on your preference.
Alternatively, Schlage Sense is a Bluetooth-enabled touch-screen lock that you can control with your iOS device. It’s a single cylinder deadbolt lock with a large illuminated keypad, built-in tamper alarm, and low battery alert.
Make everything smart
Of course, you usually buy smart locks as standalone products; however, some people are taking the concept a step further and connecting their smart door locks to smart alarms, CCTV systems, and IP cameras.
This high level of security lets you protect and monitor your home from anywhere at any time. You’re in control of your home security at the touch of a button.
High-tech entry systems
It’s not just door locks that have gone high tech. Home access systems have also gone beyond simply tapping in a number or swiping your card.
BPT's first fully IP entry panel can be directly connected within a LAN network. The THANGRAM IP is the next generation of entry panel that uses standard SIP video and VoIP protocols. Recessed or wall-mounted, the panel combines stylish design with high performance.
Paxton’s Net2 Entry is a door entry system that can be used as a standalone system or with Net2 access control. Net2 access control includes auto-detect on three components: the external panel, interior monitor and door control unit, making it highly secure.
